With multiple equipment vendors, many times the equipment you need is not compatible with the equipment you have. Network alarm data has to be transmitted to your upper level masters in a protocol it can understand. Unfortunately, not all equipment operates on the same protocol. Alarm mediation devices have to be in place to translate and transmit that alarm data to your upper level masters.
DPS specializes in mediation solutions. Our element managers can receive alarm data in a variety of protocols and output directly to SNMP, TL1 and other protocols. We also offer mediation devices that will translate and report data to local technicians and upper level masters.

As is the case with many custom applications, we anticipated that we would come across unexpected obstacles during the course of this project. This was not the case with the DPS Alarm Distribution Shelf (ADS). Your staff was invaluable in helping my group determine the requirements for this system, and has done an excellent job in designing, building, delivering and supporting the ADS. The engineering expertise and customer service we have received from DPS has led to a seamless implementation of the alarm system along CapRock's two largest fiber rings.
The system itself combines an impressive combination of ability, adaptability and simplicity in its design. Installation and configuration are as easy as any inside plant equipment we have ever worked with, and the ADS compatibility with our existing monitoring systems at the Network Operation Center has made test and turn-up a flawless process.
As you know, CapRock will soon become part of the McLeod USA network. Based on our experience with DPS, I feel very confident in recommending that McLeod review the system that we have put in place, and recommend that they continue this design throughout the remainder of their network.

As Director of Engineering, Marshall DenHartog is a key person in the development and innovation behind DPS' customer-based solutions. His primary goal is to make sure the customer gets exactly what they want.
Marshall explains, "I begin development with the fundamental assumption that the customer's primary concern is solving a problem.
This was evident in a recent problem brought to him by our technical support department. "The client identified a problem with the configuration just days before the target deployment date," Marshall states. "With the client providing the transmission unit for our testing, we were able to develop a solution that provided the expected modem protocol in just 14 hours.
Over the last 4 years, Marshall has developed many different solutions for our customers. "He is very versatile and energetic. If the customer wants to change something, he gets it changed." states Ron Stover, Director of Tech Support. "He looks at a project from all angles and knows all of the different programming languages.
