Common Questions About Remote Power Management

Can I reboot a single device without affecting other equipment at the same site?

Yes. DPS PDUs provide individually switchable outlets, so you can power cycle one device while everything else on the unit remains powered and operational.

What happens if the network connection to the PDU goes down?

The PDU maintains its current power state during a network outage. No outlets will toggle unexpectedly. Once connectivity is restored, you regain full remote control. Some configurations also support out-of-band access via serial or dialup as a backup management path.

Do I need a T/Mon master station, or can I manage the PDU directly?

Both options work. Each PDU and NetGuardian RTU has its own web interface for direct management. T/Mon becomes valuable when you have more than a handful of sites and want centralized control, alarm correlation, and a single-pane view of power status across your network.

Can I set up automatic reboots on a schedule?
