The NetGuardian 864A DX G5 Expansion Units are low-cost, self-contained devices that provide compatible NetGuardian series remotes with an additional 64 ground-activated discrete alarms, 8 analogs alarms, and 8 control relays. With the NetGuardian DX expansions, your NetGuardian RTU can scale to the needs of your site, so you don't have to deploy new RTUs as your needs grow. Adding up to 3 NetGuardian 864A DX expansion units to your compatible NetGuardian RTU will increase your capacity by 192 discrete points, 24 analog inputs, and 24 control relays.
Each unit is equipped with dual RS232 ports for easy installation and daisy-chaining. Here are the benefits you will enjoy by deploying the NetGuardian 864 DX:
You should know that there is also a NetGuardian 832A DX model. What's the difference? When compared to the NetGuardian 864A DX, the NetGuardian 832A DX increases your discrete alarms in increments of 32 versus 64. The NetGuardian 832A DX features 8 analog inputs and 8 control outputs (relay contacts). The other difference is, of course, the price. The NetGuardian 864A DX is usually priced higher than the NetGuardian 832A DX due to its larger increase of discrete alarms, unless you require additional features. For an additional cost, DPS can add these custom features you need to meet or exceed your needs.
You may also be wondering about compatibility issues. Is the NetGuardian 832A DX compatible with the NetGuardian 864A? And is the NetGuardian 864A DX compatible with the NetGuardian 832A? The answer is yes. So if you expand your base NetGuardian 864A or 832A unit with a NetGuardian 832A DX expansion unit, you can increase your capacity with a minimum of 32 discrete alarms. You can also maximize your discrete alarms by an additional 192 by deploying three NetGuardian 864A DXs. Please note that these two NetGuardian expansion units are not compatible with all NetGuardian RTUs. To find out which NetGuardian RTUs are compatible, call 1-800-693-0351 or 559-454-1600 to speak with our Sales Engineers or Tech Support team.
Aside from the incremental discrete alarms increase difference, you will enjoy the same benefits by deploying either one of these expansion units.
If three NetGuardian 864A DX units are still not enough to increase visibility of your site, DPS recommend that you consider looking into deploying a T/Mon as your master station. DPS manufactures and sells the T/Mon MINI (Starter Monitoring), T/MON SLIM (Mid-Level Monitoring), and T/Mon LNX (Full-Capacity Monitoring). These T/Mon master stations can support or provide the same inbound/outbound protocols, remote access protocols, and web interface. They different in the amount of simultaneous users, devices/RTUS, and alarms points they can support.
Here are some additional links with more information on the expansion units and T/Mon master stations.
