How This Application Works:

For site outside of your existing LAN but within reach of a T1, the NetGuardian 216T may give you a means of monitoring your equipment.

The NetGuardian 216T is an intelligent SNMP/DCPx remote telemetry unit for complete site management, which is equipped for operation in wide temperature range, T1- and Ethernet-based. It supports FrameRelay/T1 or PPP/T1 and you can bring LAN to areas without Ethernet with its built in 7-port hub.

The NetGuardian 216T is a 1 rack unit alarm remote that supports 16 discrete alarms that are "software reversible" to support both N/O and N/C alarm wiring, 7 analog inputs (4 general purpose, 1 for monitoring internal temperature, and 2 for monitoring battery feeds) as well as a digital temperature and humidity sensor. The sensor probe has 10-ft long leads, so once connected to the NetGuardian 216T, it may be placed in the most appropriate location within the cabinet. The NetGuardian 216T also comes equipped with a 1-port terminal server so you can remotely access a serial device using Telnet. And because the NetGuardian 216T has an integrated 7-port hub, you can bring 1.544 Mbps LAN to other devices at the site without purchasing a separate T1 router. This cuts costs and saves rack space.

The NetGuardian 216T also allows you to remotely control external devices via its 2 internal relays. These controls are a convenient and time efficient way of remotely switching equipment in the field. You will be able to remotely access up to 2 external equipment such as turning ON/OFF lights, turning ON/OFF backup generators, OPEN/CLOSE gates, etc. This version of the NetGuardian 216T features dual power feeds. You will be able to connect the secondary power feed to a backup source. The dual power feeds will automatically draw from the backup source if the primary source becomes unavailable.

The NetGuardian 216T also features an integrated temperature and a battery sensor. The integrated temperature sensor will monitor the ambient temperature at the rack level and the battery sensor will monitor the NetGuardian's current draw. The integrated temperature sensor measures a range of -22° F to 158° F (0° C to 60° C). Each integrated sensor takes the place of an analog input, and does not need any external connections. No other analog input can be connected to the input point used for the integrated sensors.

The NetGuardian 216T offers a Web Browser interface for easy and convenient centralized alarm management and unit configuration via Web Browser that can run on any platform or operation system. This means if you get notified of an alarm away form your normal workstation you can go to the nearest computer (with internet access) and log onto the NetGuardian. The user friendly interface allows complete access to all the functions of the unit and enables the user to quickly set up alarm point descriptions, view alarm status, issue controls, and configure paging information, as well as additional options.

The NetGuardian 216T has all the tools you need to manage your remote sites, including a T1 WAN and 7 port 10-BaseT Ethernet hub interface, built-in alarm monitoring, paging, and e-mail capabilities that can eliminate the need for an alarm master. The NetGuardian 216T is the ideal solution for collecting equipment and environmental alarms from your outdoor enclosures and reporting these alarm conditions via Frame Relay/T1. The 7-port Ethernet hub can also be utilized to provide connectivity to other far-end devices from the T1 WAN.
