T/MonXM Version 4.0

General Features

  • SNMP Trap Processor Module - This module gives T/MonXM 4.0 the capacity to collect alarm traps from SNMP devices and process them with all of T/MonXM's powerful functions. Supports MIBS installation, removal, and compilation.
  • Advanced Building Access System - A new module for managing building access at remote sites with T/MonXM. This is perfect for key elimination in co-lo sites, while maintaining complete control over access. With the Building Access System you can specify who is allowed access, the dates, days, and times when they are allowed access, and even which sites within sites they may access. This module is FREE to customers with active Maintenance Agreements.
  • FTP Server - Allows for file transfers to and from the T/MonXM through your network, making it easy to remotely backup and restore databases or install software.
  • Enhanced Database Backup - Supports higher capacity drives such as ZIP drives. Configuration and history backups can now be written to the same disk.
  • Derived alarms now support Date & Day of Week - Specify days of the week and dates of the month when creating derived alarm equations; for example, "Declare an alarm if the generators don't start their self-test on Tuesday morning between 2:00 and 3:00 AM.
  • Test the integrity of dialup backup - Integrity testing assures that your backup path will be ready when you need it.
  • Web Browser Interface - The new web browser interface, which has been tested with Internet Explorer 4.5 and Netscape Navigator 4.0, allows users with a logon password to view alarms through the Intra- or Internet. The interface allows users to perform the basics of alarm management such as viewing and acknowledging alarms, text messages and reports without any additional DPS software.
  • Ping Interrogator - Version 4.0 has the ability to PING IP addresses. This allows the T/MonXM to confirm that servers, routers and IP-based equipment are physically present or can be reached across the network.
  • E-Mail Support - T/MonXM can now notify people through e-mail in much the same way as it did with alpha-paging. This provides a means of keeping people in touch with their alarm status. E-mail notification is ideal for those who want to keep track of alarm occurrences on a weekly basis.
  • Auto Database Transfer - The new Auto Databasing feature allows a database to be sent to another unit on a pre-determined day of the week at a pre-determined time. This helps ensure databases are backed-up and remain in sync.
  • Derived Alarm Template Enhancements and ASCII Displays - Derived alarms are now supported in templates for standard and ASCII alarms. This allows for a convenient way of taking similar sites with multiple errors and grouping them under one site labeled by its severity. The derived template is helpful because it only needs to be defined in one location, instead of having to be defined for each site independently.
  • Import Point Database - Expert T/MonXM users who are maintaining databases on other platforms may now import that data directly into T/MonXM by using the Import Alarm Definitions feature.
  • VT-100 Through Task Cards - Color VT-100 is now directly supported through the task cards.
  • ASCII Scripts - ASCII scripts save the user from performing repetitious commands by building scripts that follow user-defined pattern recognition (Requires ASCII Module).

Speed and Usability Improvements

  • Improved Interface - The standing alarm and COS screen now automatically switches between trouble logs and text messages as alarms are browsed. It saves keystrokes, and it's easier to use.
  • Fast Menu Support - Hot keys both select and execute menu items in a single keystroke for faster navigation, without disabling traditional menu selection.
  • Type and Port Identification - The remote port setup screen now displays both the type and port identification of the data connection, making it easier to confirm your configurations. For example, a LAN-based remote access job header would display "Job 35 Remote Access TCP 3010." We've also added easy navigation to the IP setup screen from the remote port window.
  • Detailed Reporting - Remote printer buffering of data export reports now supports more than 136 characters. More detailed description has been added to the alarm point export report. The file viewer now supports an end-of-file function key for quick navigation to the end of the report.
  • E-Mail Enhancements - E-mail messages can now be sent from pager status windows, giving you the same instant message capacity as alphanumeric paging. The e-mail English Protocol Analyzer has been enhanced to show additional transaction detail in e-mail transmissions, for greater visibility in case of compatibility issues with third-party e-mail servers.
  • Test the integrity of dialup backup - Integrity testing assures that your backup path will be ready when you need it.

Remote Support

  • NetGuardian - The NetGuardian is now supported in DCPX and alternate path dial-up configurations. Systems with ASCII modules can also process the alarms coming from ASCII devices connected to the NetGuardian serial ports. Plus, NetGuardian firmware updates can now be downloaded directly over the LAN.
  • Badger Interrogator - Added ability to interrogate a Badger remote model 481, 475 and 433. (Requires Badger Module)

Ethernet

  • SNMP Mangers - T/MonXM now supports up to eight SNMP mangers, each manager can report an individual section or an entire database. T/MonXM now allows you to specify the port numbers the traps are sent to for non-standard SNMP implementations (Requires SNMP Module).
  • Standby Mode - It allows multiple IAMs to communicate with multiple NetGuardians via LAN. This is the LAN-equivalent of the master/slave mode operation of the KDAs. Alternate path reporting is also taken into consideration in this mode.
  • TCP ASCII Jobs - TCP ASCII jobs now have a user-configurable receive buffer size. This allows you to better manage your memory resources by allocating additional memory to devices that tend to generate more alarms for more efficient processing. Flow control has also been added to the TCP ASCII jobs.
