Use Your Existing Digital and Analog Microwave Networks to Collect Alarms

Use Your Existing Digital and Analog Microwave Networks to Collect Alarms

How This Application Works:

Equipment Used:
  • NetGuardian Remotes
  • Digital Microwave Network
  • Analog Microwave Network
  • 232 Modems
  • 202 Modems
  • 12-Port Router
  • 66 Blocks

Analog to Digital microwave may seem like a daunting task. With replacing of your older equipment (including Larse) with contemporary technology, it will provide a far superior solution than using Legacy RTUs.

Therefore this solution will take into account the existing Analog network with an immediate replacement of the Legacy equipment - and keeps an eye on the future with an easy integration into the Digital Network.

The T/Mon SLIM master station will provide a central aggregation point and alarm notification for you and will located at the your HQ. The Legacy RTU replacement will be accomplished by the NetGuardian 480 located at each of your remote sites.

Phase 1 - The Analog Deployment will be accomplished taking advantage of the 202 Microwave bridging equipment already in place. The NetGuardian 480 will report out DCP Protocol via RS232 to a 232-to-202 Converter that will tie in directly to your Analog Microwave Radio and report those alarms through a 12-Port Router located at one site.

The 12-Port Router will then tie in to a RS232-to-RS232 bridge and report alarms to the T/Mon SLIM. Each of the remote sites will require a 232-to-202 Converter Modem (included in this solution). We also included here a single RS232 Cable to connect the local NetGuardian 480 to the 12-Port Router at one site. Also, we included a single RS232 Cable to connect the local NetGuardian 480 to the T/Mon SLIM at your HQ.

Phase 2 - Here's the best part; as your Microwave Radio equipment moves into the new Digital Deployment you will be able to remove the 232-to-202 Converter and report directly through the RS232 transport equipment provided by your Harris Radios. A new cable from NetGuardian 480 to the 202 will be required. Each site will continue to report through the 12-Port Router located at the Sunset site, which will then forward alarms to the T/Mon SLIM located at your HQ.
