Benefits of a Cellular Remote Control

As security and monitoring needs evolve, so do the products designed to assist us in creating a reliable solution to whatever responsibilities may arise.

Imagine having a security system on your building, one that is comprised of the old-fashioned lock-and-key and some heavy doors. What if you could install a device that allowed you to lock your doors, set the alarm, and turns on your security system? What about turning on the HVAC and water-pump before any workers showed up to the site? Maybe you want something a little simpler, such as being able to turn on the lights before you got to work. What if all of this could be done with something as simple as making a quick call, or sending a text message? Here's a bit of good news, you can!

With cellular remote control devices you can do all of this, and almost anything else you can think of. There are many ways to utilize a device such as this, but all of them revolve around the basic principle of how a switch functions.

The device itself is basically a cellular receiver, a computer chip with an antenna to connect to a cell phone network. The can be designed to work with a SIM-card for GSM networks, or even set up for CDMA communications as well. In either instance, the remote control is set up with its own phone number, just like your phone, but in the event that it receives a call from an authorized number, a switch is triggered. This can be linked up to almost any task you may need to perform, such as turning on a light or arming a security system. In certain situations, these remotes can be set up to respond to a command via SMS and trigger one of several actions.

Possible uses for Cellular Remotes:

  • Turning alarm systems on
  • Controlling HVAC systems
  • Disarming security features before unlocking door

Now, imagine you are already on your way home for the night, and one of your employees calls to let you know that they are not sure if anyone set the alarm before going home. Usually this would mean having to drive back to work just to check and see, but with a cellular remote control, a simple phone call could guarantee that alarm is set, saving you time and effort.

A device as simple as this can create a much more efficient and user-friendly network. If you still aren't sure how a cellular remote control could possibly benefit you and your company, then your next step would be to contact your preferred telemetry sales professional who can assist you in creating networking solutions designed to meet your specific applications.
