DPS Telecom Introduces Microwave Site Monitoring White Paper

FRESNO, Calif., September 1, 2007 -- DPS Telecom, a leading developer of network alarm monitoring solutions, announced today that they have released a white paper in their extensive series for network professionals. The newest white paper, Microwave Site Monitoring, provides several options for maximizing their network visibility by improving their microwave site monitoring.

"A lot of companies are still using microwave transport in their communications network sites," said DPS CEO Bob Berry. "We wanted to provide our clients with information they could use to improve their site monitoring, without breaking their budget."

DPS has over 20 years of experience in developing custom-fit monitoring solutions for their clients. This experience has helped DPS provide cost-effective solutions for microwave networks to a number of clients operating microwave sites. In the process, DPS has developed an understanding of the special challenges of microwave monitoring.

"The data running over these networks is just as critical as it ever was, yet maintaining these older technology sites is more challenging than it has ever been for network operators," said DPS Telecom President Eric Storm. "This white paper provides solutions for network operators who find themselves unable to get the support they need for their microwave monitoring equipment."

Microwave Site Monitoring provides operators with a basic understanding of monitoring their microwave equipment. It will cover the different types of microwave communications, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of using microwave data transport.

For those already operating microwave monitoring systems, this white paper provides solutions for the difficulties operators face when attempting to find replacements for their legacy RTUs and alarm master. With step-by-step instructions for a gradual migration to advanced microwave monitoring equipment, operators will learn how to maximize their visibility while staying within their budget.

With new FCC regulations regarding tower lights, network operators must also understand how to monitor their microwave tower lights to ensure this equipment is constantly working. "The FCC has stringent tower light monitoring requirements to ensure the safety of air traffic passengers," said Storm. "As these regulations apply even to decommissioned microwave towers, it is extremely important that operators are effectively monitoring their microwave tower lights."

Microwave Site Monitoring provides operators with advanced applications for their microwave monitoring system. This white paper will teach operators how to effectively use ring polling, also known as "backhaul", at their microwave sites to better troubleshoot communication errors along their network.

Microwave Site Monitoring is one of over 30 white papers by DPS Telecom. With a wealth of expertise monitoring a wide range of equipment in over 25 modern and legacy protocols, DPS Telecom writes in-depth, practical guides for telecom professionals. Microwave Site Monitoring, in addition to over 30 other informative white papers, is available as a free PDF download at www.DpsTelecom.com/microwave_wp .
