MIBS, SNMP, Traps, Compile, Inform, GET, SET, and Manager are all parts of a successful SNMP implementation. Depending on your position, these items might be things that go on behind the scenes, or you might be in the front lines of implementation.

Wherever you are in the SNMP process, DPS has both the software & hardware solutions you need, plus the most important ingredient: the expertise that gets embedded in our products, services, and educational materials. We think that an educated marketplace is the best marketplace.

This issue of "The Protocol" features several sets of everyday SNMP problems that you might run into, and some suggestions on how you can best address them. If you want to take your SNMP understanding to a much deeper level, then be sure to download one of our many white papers focused on the subject.

It may seem like we've been introducing a lot of new product lately. Well, you're right... we are! Our engineers have been very busy implementing new product technology and remotes. This month, they've built a 64-point discrete expansion companion unit for the NetGuardian 864, which can ultimately grow site capacity (in 64-point increments) up to 256 points. 2^8 is one of those numbers I really like.

I can't wait to tell you what they are working for next month…

'Til next month,

Eric Storm, President of DPS Telecom
