SNMP Manager Application

Good SNMP manager applications are part of any professional SNMP Management system.

An SNMP manager application is a software program that is used to monitor SNMP devices. These applications interpret signals, called "traps", from network elements that utilize Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). These signals are sent to your SNMP manager to indicate status changes at remote sites.

T/Mon Monitors SNMP Better than SNMP Manager Applications

Local NOC
T/Mon collects event-driven messages in a manner similar to SNMP manager application software. However, while software programs simply list alarm and clear change-of-state (COS) events, T/Mon combines the alarms from this list into a comprehensive standing alarm window. This allows operators to see exactly which alarms are standing at any given time.

T/Mon Can Monitor Much More than Just SNMP

While SNMP manager application software can be utilized to monitor a network, there are more effective, cost-efficient options for network monitoring. Implementing dedicated hardware, such as the T/Mon network management platform, can save you a great deal in labor costs and eliminate the need to purchase additional devices to support other protocols.

Convenient T/Mon Window View Displays All Standing Alarms On One Screen

T/Mon's convenient window view also allows operators to clear alarms as they are being attended to, or silence alarms for any specified period. This includes the silencing of nuisance alarms (eliminating repeat notifications of unimportant events that regularly trigger alarms). This T/Mon feature is useful when performing installations or repairs, as it will prevent needless notifications that can cause operators to ignore more critical alarm messages.

With T/Mon, alarm notifications can be sent automatically through paging or email. These alarms can also be scheduled to notify different on-call operators in accordance with your company's monitoring schedule. Furthermore, T/Mon provides for the escalation of alarms, allowing supervisors to be alerted when operators have missed or ignored an alarm for more than a few minutes. This also prevents busy supervisors from being bothered by quickly resolved alarms.

T/Mon Does the Job of an SNMP Manager Application and Over 25 Other Alarm Masters

While SNMP manager application software can only be used for monitoring SNMP devices, T/Mon can interpret alarms from over 25 additional protocols. This allows alarms from all of your devices to be brought into T/Mon, eliminating multiple screens that require hiring and training multiple operators. The dedicated hardware of T/Mon also reduces the risk of missing a critical alarm notification, saving you from losing revenue due to system downtime.
