HP Openview: Send SNMP Traps with the NetGuardian 21...

Send SNMP Traps to Your HP Openview with the NetGuardian 21...

How This Application Works:

Equipment Used:
  • NetGuardian 21
  • HP Openview
  • Optional temperature sensor
This application of the NetGuardian 21 explains how SNMP traps can be sent to your HP Openview SNMP Manager. All the connectors are on one side of the unit, giving you maximum flexibility for mounting. If the NetGuardian 21 is rack mounted, side mounted, or put in some nook or cranny, you will still be able to access everything you need from the front of the unit. The RIA connectors are used for wiring the optional temperature sensor, to make it as easy as possible. All you will need to do is strip a bit of the wire, flip open the connector, lock it down over the wire, and a secure connection is achieved.

The front panel also has indicator LEDs that show the status of the alarm events. The NetGuardian 21 comes with a temperature sensor and probe with a 7-foot cable that plugs right into a connector on the front of the unit. Other specifications include 110VAC power feed, and it is externally fused to support threshold alarms. As the thresholds are crossed, SNMP traps will be sent to your HP Openview, for the sensor or discrete alarms. One of the contacts is already programmed as a dry contact, and the other can be configured to accept the 24V signal, or lack of.
