Monitor Alarms Where You Don't Have A Cisco 15454 With Alarm Interface Card

SNMP Manager
With a NetGuardian RTU, you can monitor alarms at remote sites where you don't have a Cisco 15454 or similar device with an alarm interface card.

How This Application Works:

If you have one or more Cisco 15454 units in your network, you know that it's possible to install an alarm interface card and monitor your equipment located at this site. While this functions at sites where you do have a Cisco 15454, you need to consider a remote monitoring solution to fill your visibility gap. In this scenario, you'll typically be using an SNMP manager to collect and display alarms throughout your network. That's why it's so important to install a monitoring device that's capable of outputting the correct version (ex. v1, v2c, v3) that your SNMP manager can accept.

As you can see in the diagram above, NetGuardian alarm remotes (RTUs) are a good choice to monitor alarms in this situation. They can collect contact closures and other alarm formats from your site equipment and send them as SNMP traps to your SNMP manager. These alarms will be visible right next to those reported by your Cisco 15454.
